- The son of barrel and cask maker Wilson Williams, John Williams was a builder.
- Like many of the 1700s houses on Long Island, this house was built to face south. Its original door opened where the bay window extends today.
- Originally, the house was clapboard-sheathed.
- The house was purchased in 1855 by William H. Cornell, a relative of Ezra Cornell, founder of Western Union and co-founder of Cornell University.
- Sometime in 1950, this property was subdivided from 122 Main Street property.
